Regarding ceramic magnets, many people do not know what kind of magnets it belongs to? Today, this article will introduce to you the material types, shapes, applications and performance parameters of ceramic magnets.
Ceramic magnets, also known as hard ferrite magnets, are composed of barium or strontium and were developed in the early 1960s as an alternative to more expensive metal magnets. These magnets are very hard, brittle, and have lower energy characteristics than other magnetic materials. However, ceramic ferrite magnets have been widely used due to their excellent anti-demagnetization, corrosion resistance and superior price advantage.
Several types of ceramic ferrite
Sintering or injection molding to manufacture ferrite magnets. These magnets can be anisotropic and isotropic. The anisotropic gradation is oriented in the manufacturing direction and must be magnetized in that direction. An isotropic gradation has no directionality and can be magnetized in any direction.
Ceramic magnets can maintain 45% of their room temperature magnetic specifications at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. The degradation is almost linear with increasing temperature and the change in magnetization is essentially reversible up to about 840°F, at which temperature the ceramic magnet is completely demagnetized. Ceramic magnets exposed to temperatures up to 1800 degrees Fahrenheit can be re-magnetized for continued use. Above 1800 degrees Fahrenheit, however, the change is irreversible.
Ceramic Grade 8 magnets have excellent peak energy product and greater resistance to demagnetization than Ceramic 5 magnets. They must also be magnetized in their orientation.
The grades and properties of ceramic magnets are shown in the table below
